Description:
The Reliability & Maintainability (R&M) programme for a project is concerned with all the activities necessary to ensure that R&M receive the attention they merit as system characteristics of prime importance. The benefits of an effectively managed R&M programme are that the engineering effort is well directed and that the R&M characteristics are optimised within their constraints.
The course refers to Def Stan 00-40 series and enables the R&M Manager to understand programme and contractual R&M requirements. It will show how to effectively plan, execute and progressively deliver a programme of R&M activities and develop an R&M case to provide assurance to the Customer.
Aim:
To provide the necessary skills and knowledge to understand and manage an R&M programme.

2 Days.
Pre-Requisites:
Completion of the Fundamentals of ILS course or a good understanding of R&M within the CADMID Cycle.

Engineers or Project Managers responsible for delivering an R&M Programme.
Course Content:
The Course Content covers the following topics:
• The translation of user requirements into a contract;
• The planning and implementation of the early stages of an R&M programme;
• Planning and contracting for progressive assurance and the R&M Case;
• Planning for Customer acceptance of the R&M Case;
• Extending the R&M Case and planning into the In-Service phase;
• Monitoring the activities of the Contractor thus ensuring compliance with the R&M Case.
