CLS (CONTRACTOR LOGISTIC SUPPORT)
CLS involves industry providing management, engineering and support functions to the equipment inventory on behalf of the MoD. It can be tailored to meet the support requirements for operational equipment positioned forward (Battlefield) to out of theatre in reserve pools, training areas and traditional support during peacetime.
The aim of adopting CLS is to:
• Give industry incentives to get supportability right and to concentrate on this aspect during the design stage
• Defer purchase of initial spares until a good understanding of usage is established which would result in lower spares cost
• Provide support for initial fielding of equipment where full support package is not developed in time
In order to achieve the above, the contractor is to comply with and satisfy the requirements of the Support Solution Envelope (SSE) by:
• Achieving a seamless interface between contractor and existing in-service operation and support
• Policy of transferring support after the CLS period
• Implications of Intellectual Property Right (IPR) issues
• Methodology for equipment maintenance history and performance monitoring
• Warranty
Quorum Logistic Support provides expertise to address all the above issues. |
