Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) is a disciplined, structured, systems engineering methodology used by a range of Defence Departments and Defence System Suppliers to ensure that projects are fully supportable through life at optimum cost. The methodology is equally applicable to any industry, where support and operating costs are commonly far greater than the design and procurement costs.

When you work with us, the ILS Manager has responsibility for all support aspects of the entire project, ensuring from the outset that supportability is given equal consideration with operational performance, WLC, reliability and time-scales, and that the most cost effective support package is identified and procured during acquisition. They are also responsible for ensuring that the necessary logistic resources to achieve all the programme ILS objectives are identified and detailed in the ILS Planning documents.

The aim of ILS is to ensure equipment designers consider all the support domains at the outset. Early consideration allows a support framework within which support and life cycle costs can be monitored and optimised.

UK Def Stan 00-60 is the main tool for implementing ILS and defines the activities to be undertaken to support a project. To gain major benefit and ensure a successful ILS programme, the activities must be tailored to meet the individual project needs.
