Ringing the Changes at Quorum
At the end of March 2023, we’ll be ringing the changes at Quorum.
Ian Rees and Trevor Hirst will be completing their Quorum ‘tour of duty’, in their current roles and making way for a new leadership team to formally take over the reins. Achieving this seamless transition, as Ian and Trevor become Trustees of Quorum’s Employee Ownership Trust (EOT), has been a year in the planning.

“Customers and team are at the heart of our business”
Simon Bownes, Quorum’s incoming Operations Director
“I’ll be taking over from Trevor at the start of April”, explains Simon. “Agreed, they are big boots to fill, however I’m confident that with the preparation work we’ve done and my 20 years of supportability experience, 15 of which have been in consultancy roles, we’ve got all bases covered.
“I’m focused on ensuring Quorum has everything in place to support all our talented team in continuing to deliver the services that our customers need. And, with the same ‘can do’ responsive approach we know they value.
“We have a proud history of delivering what our customers require and we intend to build on this by further developing a well-motivated, highly skilled and pragmatic team of supportability experts.”

“While defence spending may increase over the next few years, value for money and efficient ways of delivering support will (rightly!) be more and more in focus. The incoming management team and all the shareholders (that’s all of us, because we’re an EOT) are determined to deliver the best possible outcomes for both customers and end users.”
“We’re in great shape for a smooth transition”
Glenn Symington, Quorum’s incoming Commercial and Technical Director
“I’m very excited to be taking on my new role, in the next month or so, encompassing all the Commercial, Financial and Technical aspects of the business,” confirms Glenn.
“Demand for experienced Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) skills is set to remain high. And it’s my job to ensure Quorum has the technical capability and capacity to meet our clients’ needs and allow for business growth.
“Quorum is a healthy and growing EOT business. I’ve been working alongside Ian and Trevor over the last year to ensure we keep it that way with excellent financial and commercial management.”

“…the right person in the right role in a very short timeframe”
Shaun Simes, Quorum’s incoming Business Development Director
Shaun says, “Working alongside Trevor and Ian for nearly two years, has taught me an enormous amount. In a continuation of my Business Development role my immediate focus as a Director will be on Quorum’s clients and ensuring we continue to meet their requirements.
“We’ll be building on the excellent relationships we already have with them; being transparent about work effort and costs and making it easier for customers to plan effectively and mitigate potential risks.
“Our agile approach and ability to put the right person in the right role in a very short timeframe ensures our clients do not suffer any delays on the ILS, Safety, Training, or Tech Pubs front.”

Quorum’s incoming Business Development Director
“The defence market finds itself in an interesting place. Although funding is limited, calls for an increase in expenditure are coming from all parties. Coupled with the massive engineering skills shortages, across the sector, there is a real risk that even with additional funding, organisations won’t be able to deliver their products in a timely and cost-efficient manner. This is where Quorum brings real value, especially to the larger Primes.
